Sir Winston Churchill Square is the cultural centrepiece of Edmonton's vibrant downtown. It was revitalized and re-opened on October 8, 2004 to commemorate Edmonton's 100th Birthday. Churchill Square is a great place to enjoy a relaxing lunch break, take a stroll with family and friends, or watch world-class performances and festivals year round.
Events at Churchill Square
Throughout the year large and small events are held at Churchill Square. Events such as The Street Performers Festival, The Works, A Taste of Edmonton, Cariwest Festival and the CIBC Run for the Cure bring people to the square. The Square is Alive!
Sir Winston Churchill Square was officially opened by Queen Elizabeth II herself in 2005. It is the heart of the downtown core and surrounded by City Hall, City Centre Mall, The Citadel Theatre, Francis G. Winspear Centre and new Art Gallery of Alberta
